#100 (!!) -- Time Machine

Happy hundredth scribble! Woo hoo! What I have in mind when I say "time machine" is this: things that transport you back to childhood or another particular time in your life. Songs, smells, foods, whatever. You know how certain things are triggers that create time machines in your memory and take you right straight back? What are some of your things, and to what times?

Or you can go all crazy "time machine" if you want, and write about what time in the past or future you would visit if you could. Have fun!

[Note -- Some people have commented below to let me know that Writer's Island used the Time Travel prompt very recently. Well, sorry about that -- I didn't know. I'm going to stick with this prompt anyway; I'm sure there's a new way you can approach the topic.]

Travelers in Atlantis is actually a post from Jan. 29, but it fits the time travel theme so well that I could not resist. I hope that's OK.

I'm admitting to an autobiographical element to this. Maybe I'm not myself aware of its extent.

This is the piece I wrote a couple weeks ago for the 'Time Travel' prompt on Writer’s Island. Seemed to be perfect for this 'Time Machine' prompt. In Night Journey, the time machine is the subconscious mind.

I am going to Time Travel between prompts. I recently posted this for Writer's Island from pretty much the same prompt. Some of you have read it but maybe some haven't. If you scroll down my blog you might find something that you haven't read. I have been busy.

Yep, I'm going with my Writer's Island, more literal prompt, too.

But I'm going to think of something that transports us back to childhood, too. Ooh, wait. I've got an idea.

Writer's Island prompt:

A little farther back I placed a link to the piece I posted for writers Island Time Travel.

But I've thought about it and come to the conclusion that it's not paying the game! So I started again and here it is.

100?! WOW, Congratulations Ladies! I don't know if you've ever visited me but I am so appreciative of all your wonderful prompts! If it wasn't for SS, I don't think I would be blogging for nearly 2 years. ( I would be so happy to receive a comment from you one day!) Thanks for your reliable, excellent weekly prompts! ♥

I'm not sure what's harder, writing fiction or non-fiction. This is the latter, and was in fact difficult for me to write.

It is a recurring issue that my S.O. and I have that has yet to find a resolution.

Hopefully we will find one soon, until then, it seems to fit in well with this weeks prompt.

Great prompt!

This time I reached back into my childhood, my distaste for Good & Plenty Candies, and the fact that they still make those vile things.

This prompted almost too many ideas = some of them frankly self-pitying. I think I avoided that trap in this free verse.

Help! I entered my Mr. Linky (#34)and it seemed to be all right until I tried to access it a few minutes ago, when I got a window that said it was wrong. So I went through the procedure again, erasing the other Mr. Linky. Now both of them work fine! Will you automatically merge them?

Well, I don't care if this WAS used somewhere else (where I don't participate anyway!!) -- I think it was a great prompt. And even though, when I first read it I thought "well, what am I going to do with THAT - because all I could think of was Dr. Who!!) - I left it alone and here I am, late at night, a glass or two (0r more!) of red wine and the ideas just came pouring out -- to go, to write to let it happen.

thank you for allowing my voice to speak.
